Mason Mason was surprised by her statement. He had taken Sofie to be the quiet and timid one, so the fact that she just came out and said that shocked him. But then he saw how embarrassed she was afterwards. That's the Sofie I know. He thought with a chuckled. He looked over at Sofie and shrugged his shoulders, his eyes warm. "It's... alright." Dammit, why was it so hard for him to form his words properly?! "Um... it really doesn't... matter? I mean, er," He shuffled his paws and looked around for something or someone to save him, but there was nothing. Anastasia was quietly snoring in between them and it was not likely she was going to be waking up. Mason took a deep breath and tried to continue with what he was saying. "What I'm trying to say is... um... you're a good friend." Wow, that was anti-climatic. Mason groaned inwardly and laid down, putting his head on his paws. I was just trying to tell her I don't mind that she likes me... she's a good friend and I just don't want to mess anything up. I'm pretty sure she knows I'm asexual, so that must just make it harder on her. Ugh, why is it so difficult for me to express myself? Asia does it just fine. Listen to me, I can talk just fine in my head. In fact, I'm a motor-mouth in my brain. God, just shut the hell up! Mason shook his head to clear his thoughts and glanced back over at Sofie.

Sofie Sofie shrugged, saying nothing out loud. Inwardly, her brain was screaming some very obscene things at both herself and Asia. “You’re… you’re a good friend too,” she replied, sinking down onto the ground next to Anastasia. The snowshoe she-cat was snoring, but Sofie figured that it was probably just as likely that her friend had been awake the entire time, listening with silent glee to the awkward conversation. It would be just like her. Sofie poked Asia’s side with her paw, but the she-cat kept snoring. Sofie turned, casting a few licks over her calico fur before shifting her weight so she was laying more comfortably next to Asia. She closed her eyes and fluffed out her fur a little bit against the oncoming chill. She didn’t really feel sleepy, but she didn’t really feel like talking. That was probably all right with Mason.
