PERSONALITY:

Tate is gay and he is not hiding it what so ever. He is not flamboyant and he isn't some flaming homosexual, but he is not afraid to flirt with any tom he has the slightest attraction to. If he finds someone cute or handsome, he's gonna make his move.
Tate is confident and brave and he is not afraid to stand up for himself or those he loves. The one thing that really gets on his nerves is homophobia and ignorance. He cannot stand it when cats think differently, or worse yet, lower, of himself and those like him. He just wishes that someday everyone could realize he is no different than anyone else.
One thing that really sucks for Tate is that he loves kids. He loves kids a lot. He wants a hoard of kittens and he wants to be a father so bad. But that's kind of impossible when he has no attraction to any girls, and it actually sickens him to imagine having sexual relations with them. His body is for boys and boys only. One day, though, he is determined to become a father. He doesn't know how, but he knows he is going to. He doesn't care if they are his own or not, he just wants little kittens to call him daddy.
(Tate is not a pedo. He sounds like a pedo, but he's not. He just really likes kids. He thinks they are adorable. That is all.)

HISTORY:

Tate always knew he was gay. From the moment a young cat first starts feeling attractions, he was attracted to boys. Males his age, males older then him. Just toms. He never looked twice at a female while his brother went from girl to girl to girl. But Tate kept it a secret from his family because his family suffered from homophobia. He heard his father and brother saying horrible things about the gay felines who passed by their homes, making it seem like these cats were lower than they were. But Tate never held any grudges against it since he was never the type of cat to harbor hatred. Instead he just blew them off.
But as the seasons went by, it got harder and harder for Tate is keep his sexuality a secret. His family's words about gays got sharper and ruder and it became harder for Tate to ignore them. The words began to sting.
Then, one day, he decided it was time. Not because the words started stinging, but because his mother got sick. Very sick. Tate didn't want her to die without knowing, and she had always been the most accepting. And so, when he thought he was alone with her, he spilled. Emmersen listened in silence and when Tate was done, tears streaming down his face, she reached up and licked them away. She told him she loved him no matter what, let out a shaky breath, and laid her head down. And then she was dead.
Tate wept silently, but soon he was interrupted when his father and brother stormed in. They had heard every word. Both of them were outraged, Angelo even more so. He struck Tate across the face and the white tom fled, leaving what was left of his family behind.

He doesn't know that his father soon perished to the same disease his mother had, but he probably wouldn't react much. When he fled, he headed into the country with no desire to return. The country proved to be a much more accepting place and he was happier here than he had ever been in the city. The only feline he misses is his mother, but he wouldn't get to see her again anyways. He's glad he made the decision to come out to her, and he doesn't hold any burdens on his shoulders. Right now, he's just a carefree boy looking for someone to love and accept him.
