'Well hello there. What's a pretty thing like yourself doing here and so ...alone. The tom's voice had been edged with danger, his eyes flashing with an emotion Sam, at the time, couldn't place. She'd foolishly turned her back on him, heart racing as she began to trot, trying to put as much distance between herself and this strange tom as possible. Mistake. He'd silently followed her and attacked her from behind. He easily overpowered and outweighed her; it didn't take much effort on his part to pin her down. When Sam refused to stop struggling he'd hit her over the head, hard, with unsheathed claws. The small black she-cat still fought, but her limbs wouldn't move and blood dripped down her face and onto the hard ground beneath her. Then he positioned himself behind her and Sam screamed as a pain she couldn't put into words tore her apart. The tom kept laughing while he thrusted inside of her and all Sam could do was scream and scream ...'
Same woke up screaming, her chest heaving as her beautiful eyes widened in panic and fear. In an instant her brother, RJ, was by her side offering calming words and warmth as he curled up beside her. 'It's ok,' He was saying. But it wasn't ok. It would never be okay. That tom had left Sam completely broken as he raped her and no matter how many baths she took and how hard she'd tried, she swore she could still smell him on her fur. As if that wasn't bad enough she had scars curving from behind her right ear to a little past her shoulder from where he'd hit her. But the worst part was that she'd gotten pregnant from that night. She was carrying that monster's kits.
The small black she-cat let out a shuddering breath, curling up next to her brother as she breathed in his familiar, comforting scent. Dev had come inside at her screams, his turquoise eyes hard as he looked down at his cousins. "Another dream?" The question wasn't directed at Sam, knowing she'd never reply to it. RJ nodded slightly, his head resting protectively over Sam's. Dev's lips curled and a low snarl escaped from his throat. He was going to kill the tom who'd done this. He would tear his throat out and watch as the life bleed out of him, and then, then he might feel better about letting this happen to his family. He was supposed to keep Sam and RJ safe. And he failed. He'd failed so miserably. Sorrow etched across the tom's face, Dev joined RJ and curled himself around the empty side of Sam's, licking her shoulder softly as he offered comfort. With the warmth of her brother and cousin around her, with the feeling of being safe and protected, Sam drifted back off to sleep and for once, she didn't dream of that night.
When Sam awoke a few hours later RJ was gone, Dev having adjusted so that his tail curled around her, his head resting above hers. Gingerly the she-cat moved away from the embrace of her cousin, standing and wincing as her still relatively fresh scars cracked slightly. Her body was sore from lack of movement and her muscles screamed at her. Sam wasn't meant for not moving. She was always moving or doing /something/. But that part of her had died after the rape. Now she was quiet and RJ and Dev were lucky if they managed to get a few words out of her. As it was, Sam wanted to go for a small walk. To try and ease the soreness from her muscles and to get away from Dev and RJ. She couldn't stand to be around the two and their looks of pity anymore today.
RJ was standing watch outside of their small barn and when Sam walked out he was up on his paws in an instant, concern etched across his handsome face. "I'm fine brother, I promise. I'm just going for a walk."
"Want me to come with you? The tom asked, settling down now that he knew nothing was wrong. Sam shook her head and offered RJ a small, slight smile. "I'll be fine, I promise. I'm just going to the pond over the hill." Her voice was softer now and with a reassuring lick on RJ's cheek, the she-cat padded away.
Sam breathed out a sigh of relief after she crested the hill and was out of sight from RJ and Dev. It also felt good simply to be out and about, having not moved much in weeks. The she-cat stopped and sat for a few minutes, grooming her fur and just looking down at her belly, which was beginning to show signs of her pregnancy. The thought made Sam's ears flick back against her head and memories quickly and briefly flickered through her mind before she pushed them away. No. She wouldn't think of that. She was determined to make herself happy ... somehow.
