Sam groaned when she felt a fluffy tail flop over her face and with a few muttered curses that would've gotten her in trouble with her parents the jet-black she-cat blinked open her amber-brown eyes. "Dev, I swear to every deity known, if you don't get your tail away from my face you're going to become a manx." The she-cat threatened, shoving the large body of her cousin away from her.
With a groan born of irritation Sam stood up in her nest of hay, bits of the dried grass clinging to her dark fur. The she-cat's body was still very much so tired, but her eyes blazed with irritation as she glared at her cousin and without a sound she attacked the tom.
Dev left up with a shout as he swatted at Sam's ears. "Get off of me you brute!" Sam scoffed at this, clinging onto her cousin's back as she nipped at his ears. "Me? Brute? Please. You put the word to shame! And at least /I/ let other cats sleep peacefully!"
RJ sighed as he heard the commotion and blinked open his light turquoise eyes. "Really guys, we have to start fighting sooooo early in the morning? To which, both responded with snipped 'yes's. RJ shook his head as he stood from his nest. He wasn't a muscular as his cousin but he was just as tall and easily plucked his much smaller sister off of Dev's back. "Some of us would like to have a morning where they could sleep in you know." The dark grey tom muttered drily, glancing between his sister and his cousin. "And in case you were confused, that 'some of us' would be me. Now, either stop fighting or get out. I'm not in the mood to deal with you two bickering all day again." The tom didn't realize it, but he sounded a lot like his father, Lizard.
Sam huffed at her brother's irritated tone and glared at Dev once again before storming out of the barn. She loved her family, she did, but sometimes they irked her to no end. The small black she-cat walked for quite some time before her rumbling stomach forced her to stop and search for prey.
It wasn't long after she began looking for food that she caught a pair of field mice. The hungry she-cat downed the first one in no time, finishing the second fractionally slower. Sam remained in her spot, on top of a small hill and began to groom her fur, her tail curling around her body in content.

Taysen Taysen was bored. Life in the barn was relaxing and calm but usually just so... boring. Very rarely did he actually enjoy himself. He had his mother and his father there, and his sister, and that was the only thing keeping him there. He wanted so much to have an adventure, but at the same time he couldn't bear to imagine the looks on his family's faces when he announced he would be leaving. It would leave them heartbroken. And so, he stayed. But that didn't mean he couldn't make an adventure for himself, out here in the country. There had to be something to do out here, right? He padded out of the barn and looked around before just letting his paws carry him. And it didn't take long before he saw a familiar black shape. It was one of his friends, well someone he had met once or twice, but she was worth hanging out with. Sam, was it? She was fun and free-spirited. She was sure to come up with something to do. So with a smile on his face, Taysen raced over to her, skidding to a stop in front of the black she-cat. "Hey, Sam." He greeted her. "Do you wanna do something today?"

Sam had been dozing off, her head dropped across her folded front paws when she heard quick paw-steps. The black she-cat had just opened her eyes when Taysen suddenly appeared in-front of her and despite herself, Sam couldn't help but smile slightly at her friend's hurry.
The she-cat chuckled softly, "Hey Tay, long time no see. As for doing something, sure. Have anything in mind?" Sam's voice was raspy from sleep and her body ached as she stood and gave her black fur a shake. Too much wrestling with her brother and cousin the day before had made her sore, but she was never one to turn down an opportunity for an adventure. She lived for adventure.

Taysen Yes! Finally something to do in this boring place. "Great!" He cheered. But then the red-brown tom stopped and looked around, puzzled. Well, now he had found someone to do something with, but what was that something gonna be? His uncle Buckley always found something exciting to do, but pestering chickens wasn't really Tay's thing. Hm, what to do, what to do? "Um... not really." Taysen clenched his jaw. Come on, there had to be something to do in this forsaken place! Swimming? Nah, he hated getting wet! Climbing? There weren't too many trees around he, and it wasn't really his forte anyway. "Oh, I got it!" Taysen said with a grin. He raced forward to where there was a pasture with several black and white cows. He stalked forward until he was between the back legs of one of leg, then let out a blood-curdling yowl. The cow let out a loud 'mooooo' sound and lunged forward, racing away from the laughing young tom-cat.

Sam chuckled at Taysen's enthusiasm, feeling her blood beginning to pump faster in her veins at the thought of an adventure. It'd been far too long since she'd done something reckless, but that was about to change.
Sam waited patiently as Taysen thought of something they could do and when he bolted off she let out a happy laugh before taking chase after him. When they arrived at the fenced in pasture the she-cat slowed her pace, watching curiously as Taysen crept between the legs of one of the cows and grinned when he yowled, startling the cow. With a carefree laugh the black she-cat soon joined in her friend's fun, racing from cow to cow and yowling until they had the entire herd startled and mooing.
The black she-cat elegantly leapt over one of the lower fence poles and out of the pasture, looking back at Taysen with amber-brown eyes blazing with happiness. Her blood rushed through her ears and for the life of her she couldn't stop grinning. "That's the most fun I've had in moons!" She exclaimed, her fur bristling with excitement.

Taysen Taysen laughed at how absolutely stupid the cows were. Seriously, why were humans always so protective of them? They are completely retarded! With a shaking head, Tay bounced back over to Sam and leaped up on the fence. "Cows are so stupid." He said with a laugh. "A little yowl and they take off running! Idiots." The field was free now, with the cows about half a mile away from the two cats. Tay wriggled his haunches and leaped off the run, taking off running down the field. Now this was one thing you couldn't do in the city. Simply run and run until you felt like your heart was going to burst out of your chest. Tay let out a joyful laugh, circling around and coming back to the fence. He leaped up, bounced off the post with his back legs, and ran full blast into Sam, pinning her down with his two paws on her shoulders. "Gotcha!" He purred..

Sam chuckled at Taysen's words, "I guess that's why humans keep them locked up. If they weren't any little noise would scare them." She snickered a bit, amber-brown eyes twinkling with mischievousness and amusement.
The young she-cat watched as Taysen ran, twitching her ear tips fractionally as she remembered running with her father when she was little. She wondered how her parents were doing and was making a mental note to go and visit when she saw Taysen charging towards her. Her amber-brown eyes widened in panic and she began to scramble away but to no use. Taysen tackled her so hard the she-cat swore she felt some of her ribs creak under the pressure. Still, Sam couldn't help but grin as she looked into the face of her friend. She met the tom's green eyes and just looked at him, heat burned up her pelt after a moment and the she-cat pushed Taysen off of her. Sam was unsure as to what the feeling she'd felt just then was but it left her confused and fractionally worried. "Next time, try not to flatten me into the ground please. I'ma be sore for moons." Sam lightly shoved her friend, the smirk flickering across her lips taking away any potential sting the words may have held.

Taysen "I can't make any promises about that!" Taysen winked as he was pushed off of her. It's not my fault you're so small compared to me." He had bulky muscles, and picking on his smaller friends was just way too tempting. He grinned, looking into the now mostly-empty field. All the cows were clustered on the far end, leaning down and munching the grass once again, but what they assumed was a safe distance from the two cats. "So what should we do now, Sam?" He asked. He loved this kind was activity, it was the only real kind of outlet he had. But he also wasn't the best of thinking up things to do, so he hoped Sam was a little bettered at that kind of thing. He looked over at her hopefully, his green eye reflecting the sun. His fur was the same shade as the red autumn leaves and the sun made it shine. To say he was self-conscious would be a huge lie as Tay knew he was handsome and he stood up straighter at the thought of how magnificent he just look right now.

Sam rolled her eyes at Taysen's words about her size. "And it's not my fault that I happened to get the short end of the genetic stick. I personally blame my brother. He stole my tall gene." She meowed with a sniff as she moved to a sitting position, licking down her now ruffled black fur.
The she-cat watched Taysen through half-hooded eyes when he asked what she thought they should do and some part of her couldn't help but notice how handsome the tom-cat was. His green eyes were beautiful against his red hued fur and the fact that he was muscular added to the overall appearance as well. Sam's ears flattened against her head momentarily as she felt heat flush her cheeks again and it had nothing to do with the sun. <i>'Dane, what is this feeling?'</i> The thought was half awe half irritation. Sam wasn't one to be twitterpated and the feeling made her uneasy to say the least.
Realizing that she'd been quiet for far too long the she-cat stood and shook her dark fur. "How about we go find a pond or something? I'm dying over here." Sam lightly pushed Taysen with her shoulder before she bounded off in the direction of one of her favorite hang-out spots, not bothering to see if Taysen was following, knowing that he would.
Sam was small for her age; she had the body size of a 10 month old kit but she had the body of her mother. And everyone knew how much attention Cloud had gotten before she'd become mates with her father. As it was, Sam's lean muscles rippled under her jet black fur, which thanks to her previous grooming, glistened under the sunlight. Her most beautiful factor, her amber-brown eyes, glittered with happiness as she ran. There was almost nothing more the she-cat loved to do other than run. She loved to feel the pull in her muscles and the freedom she felt couldn't be compared to anything else.

Taysen Taysen looked over at Sam as if she had gone crazy. "A pond? Are you seriously suggesting going swimming?" Did she have a screw loose? Water and cats did not mix. It just wasn't natural! There was no way in hell he was placing a single toe in a pond or puddle of droplet of dew. "There's nothing you can say that will convince me to get in water." He shook his head with a chuckle. "You can swim all you want. Grow gills if you like! I like to keep my paws dry."
