PERSONALITY:
Abel is a paranoid cat, growing up with abuse and a lack of a real mother having a negative effect on the tom. He tends to live a fearful life, which is why he prefers the calm and serene atmosphere of the country. Growing up, he developed severe of the dark, heights, loud noises, and humans, and staying away from the city gives him some relief from these fears. Of course, he still experiences the occasional panic attack in the country, and because of the solitary lifestyle he has chosen, he often has to work through them alone. He’s also a nervous cat, and sometimes works himself into a panic over little things.
Abel is a pessimistic cat, not exactly the cheeriest tom on the earth. He hasn’t seen his siblings in years, and tries not to give himself any hope that they’re still alive. He feels especially guilty for leaving Addilyn and their younger brother Micah alone with their crazed mother, and these anxieties don’t help his fears. Whenever he does spend time with another cat, though, he makes sure to put on a fake smile, not letting anyone see just how fearful and lonely his life really is. He’s unwilling to let anyone see past the false happiness he puts up, instead closing himself away to live through his problems alone. He really does care about others, and doesn’t want to burden anyone else with his problems.
To any cat that manages to work their way into his life, Abel is incredibly kind, putting those close to him before anything else. He just doesn’t ever give himself the chance to meet new cats, and it would take some effort to get him to open up and consider you a friend. RELATIONSHIPS:

HISTORY:
Rosamund was a normal cat for the first half of her life. She was raised by two loving parents and met Diego at the age of three, and she was soon expecting his kits. But half way through the pregnancy, her mother was kit and killed by a speeding car, which caused something is Rosamund to break. She was soon hearing voices, and she thought them to be the voices of her kittens, and she would speak back in a loving voice. Diego didn’t think much of this behavior, simply assuming she was talking to her swollen belly, which was normal, right? Pregnant she-cat talked to their babies all the time.
And it was harmless behavior at first, but when Abel and his two sisters were born, the voices became violent. They began to tell Rosamund to kill her kittens, to starve them or suffocate them, or even slice their throats. Rosamund didn’t listen, of course, blocking them out as best she could, but this caused her terrible migraines. She closed herself off from her kittens to protect them, and while her intentions were good, the litter saw it as abandonment. Abel began to develop his fears at this point, shocked that his mother had seemingly discarded them and the young tom feeling as if she didn’t love them anymore. His older sister, Adalia, would often try to talk to their mother, but the she-cat would ignore her. That is, until one night when the voices finally took over.
Abel was settled down with his sister Addilyn beside Diego, sleeping soundly. Adalia had been curled up with her siblings, but when she had a nightmare, she wandered over to Rosamund to seek out some comfort. The moment she attempted to wake her mother, Rosamund snapped, pining her daughter to the ground and covering her face in an attempt to smother her. Luckily, Diego awoke and intervened before Rosamund could suffocate her six-month old kitten, and the older tom wrestled his mate to the ground to save his daughter. Abel cowered with Addilyn, heart pounding with panic as he watched his parents struggle against each other while Adalia ran off into the night to escape.
When Rosamund finally calmed down and realized what she had done, she became severely depressed. Diego thought that maybe a new litter of kittens would make the she-cat happy again, and so Rosamund soon became pregnant with her second litter. She once again thought she heard her unborn kittens and would gently speak back. Abel now kept his distance from Rosamund, and while the thought of new siblings was exciting, he didn’t let himself grow overly excited. What if mother snapped again, like she had with Adalia? So he stuck close to his sister Addilyn, who would help him through panic attacks and give him some sense of safety in their dysfunctional family.
Rosamund snapped even earlier this time, attempting to murder her three newborn sons right away. Addilyn and Abel left during the labor, but came back to witness Diego once again wrestling with Rosamund, much like the night Adalia was attacked. Diego knocked Rosamund out, and after only a moment’s hesitation scooped up two of his sons and ran away. Abel hasn’t seen him since as well.
Abel stood by nervously as he watched his sister approach their unconscious mother and rescue their last little brother, who was beside their mother not breathing. Addilyn licked the little tom until he finally began to breathe, and Abel stayed with his sister as she took care of him until Rosamund awoke, seemingly ignorant about what had just happened.
Rosamund’s memory returned several days later, and she was furious, but not at herself. Her outrage was directed towards her kits, and she too her anger out on her older children, beating them daily. Abel took the worst of the abuse, and tried to stay strong to keep his sister and little brother safe, but after a week of beatings, he fled. He just couldn’t take it anymore, often going into panic attacks while his mother attacked him and not being able to calm down and relax until she left him alone. He still feels guilty to this day for leaving his sister and brother behind with their crazed mother, and he hopes that Addilyn understands.
Abel tried to stay in the city, but the skittish cat didn’t do too well in the loud and unpredictable city, and soon moved on to the country. He’s stayed there since, every one in a while venturing to the city in the hopes to see his sister, but he never stays long and always hurries back to his calm country home.
