Ryder "Hey, I've been on my paws for the past few hours taking care of you!" He snapped, narrowing his eyes. He hadn't stopped once to take care of his wounds until after he was completely done taking care of her. "But anyway... Callie? Why are you wandering around these streets at night? There's some pretty mean kitties around, you know. That's why you got jumped. Little pretty girl all alone makes an easy target." He explained with a chuckle. "You mean a big boy like myself to keep those bad guys away."

Calliope
[/color][/i] Callie rolled her eyes as she carefully cleaned blood out from between her claws. "I don't need help, she sniffed. "In fact, if it weren't for you I would have been on my way by the time that tom arrived." Then she let out a resigned sigh. "Well, I suppose you helped me out after he did attack, so thank you. She lapsed into silence, feeling slightly pissed off. "All right, look. I didn't ask you to save me, so don't act all high'n'mighty about it, pretty boy. [/blockquote][/blockquote][/sub][/right]

Ryder Ryder rolled his eyes. "Whatever, your attitude is really starting to get on my nerves. Next time I get attacked, I'll just let you bleed to death, okay?" He turned around so his back was to her and flopped on her side, resting his head on his paws. He closed his eyes, finally feeling the affects of exhaustion.
OOC: Oh my gosh this is so short but I really don't know what to say.

Calliope
[/color][/i] Callie gave an exaggerated groan to mock Ryder before collapsing herself. It had been a long and tiring night. Admittedly, Ryder was fun to argue with. He always had something to say back to her. Most toms would have run screaming from the scene by now. The level of respect that Callie had for the other cat was slowly going up. She blinked a few times and shook her head. Wow, there's something wrong with me, thinking like this, she muttered to herself. Then again, she was feeling very foggy-headed. The scratch on her leg where Ryder had drained the blood was feeling very hot and itchy and annoying. Callie gnawed at it to ease the itch, but it just came back after a second. The dusty brown she-cat sat up and swiveled her shoulders so that her broken limb smashed into the brick wall. A good slap was all she ever needed to calm an itch down. Callie was definitely feeling woozy now. What's going on? she wondered, struggling to get a grip. What happened to me?! Though muddled, Callie recognized she needed to get some sleep and so she curled up against the wall on some old newspapers. Her broken leg stuck out at an awkward angle, but she was mostly comfortable and quickly slipped into sleep. [/blockquote][/blockquote][/sub][/right]

Ryder Ryder fell asleep fast, his limps immediately relaxing. He sunk into a deep slumber and didn't take up until the sun was high up in the sky. He stood up and stretched his aching muscles. Callie was still asleep, which was a good thing. His stomach was growling, and Ryder remembered he hadn't eaten since yesterday afternoon. There was a trash can next to the alley wall; he went over to it and bumped it, knocking it over a bit so some stuff fell out, before it wobbled back into place. He sniffed at what had fallen out, a few french fries and a half eaten piece of chicken, and gobbled them up hungrily. He would have gotten something for Callie, but she told him she didn't need his help.

Calliope
[/color][/i] I need something. Callie shot up, glaring around, broken leg dangling at her side. Where was it? Callie's gaze focused on another cat, sitting nearby, and her eyes narrowed. He stole it. "Give it back!" she snarled, barreling into him. "Give it back!" She jumped away, eyes still narrowed, but then found herself relaxing. What was she looking for again? "I'm not looking for something. You're just stupid, Cal girl. Stupid Cal." The world was so bright! So many pretty colors to look at and so many yummy things to eat. Callie pranced over to a wall made out of chicken fingers and licked it. Maybe she should offer the other cat some. What was his name, anyways? "Come have some chicken, Pretty Kitty!" she told the other cat, grinning broadly. "But first let's turn off the sun. It's getting too hot. Her fur was damp with sweat and she was panting. "I'm going to go turn off the sun," she sang to herself, spinning dizzily. I just gotta' get there... [/blockquote][/blockquote][/sub][/right]

Ryder Ryder was caught completely off guard when Callie jumped on him. "What?" He felt her burning paws on his fur. "Oh no. Callie, you have a fever!" He looked at her leg and saw that it was all red and puffy. She had an infection, and a bad one from the way she was acting. She got off of him and starting rambling about chicken or something. "Callie, you need to lay down and rest. You're only hot because you have a fever." He spoke in a low voice, trying to explain it to her, but he knew it was no use. She was so disoriented that nothing was going to make sense to her. I don't know what to do! He was panicking now. He could work with wounds, but he didn't have any medicine to give her. And she wouldn't rest and it had been too dry, so there were no puddles for him to get water from. And he couldn't venture off to find water and carry it all the way back; it would be dried up by then. "Callie, please lay down." He begged.

Calliope
[/color][/i] Callie stopped spinning, a goofy grin on her face. "I'm going to go exploring!" she proclaimed, bouncing out of the alley. There were big tall things walking around on their hind legs. Callie tried it too, but fell over with a yelp. Two of them came at her, swinging their big long arms at her. They were holding boxes. Callie stumbled backwards and ran. "HELP! HELP!" she squealed, rocketing in small circles in the alleyway with her broken leg swinging around. [/blockquote][/blockquote][/sub][/right]

Ryder Oh no. Ryder watched the two humans approaching, wearing uniforms and thick gloves. He knew who these humans were: animal control. He'd seen them picking up the stray dogs and cats who were too stupid and hide. But these humans obviously had known exactly where they were hiding. He tried to call out to Callie, but they had already grabbed her and placed her in one of their cages. "Let her go!" He growled, lunging at the humans. He latched onto one of their arms and bit down hard. The human screamed and shook his arm around frantically, but the other one grabbed Ryder's scruff and place him in a cage as well, locking the door. "Fuck, fuck fuck! Shit, let me out you bastards!!" He slammed himself against the sides until his wounds reopened and dripped blood onto the floor. It was no use though and soon he was panting and it was obvious that he wouldn't be able to get out.

Calliop and a little Peggy
Callie opened her eyes, a soft moan slipping past her lips. Where am I? she wondered, blinking sleepily around. She was in a silver mesh cage lined with soft, fluffy, clean towels, and there was a small bowl of water attached to the side. Outside of her cage, she could see clean white walls and a tile floor. She was up on a table in a row of cages. Callie tried to get up and examine her surroundings better, but when she tried to rise her head swam and she collapsed back. Her broken limb flopped out at an odd angle and made a dull but loud thud as it hit the side of the cage. Callie realized she didn't feel it, and turned to see that her entire right front let was encased in a cast. She couldn't move it or get to it at all, which really bit because there was an itch on her leg... "You're awake!" A soft, delicate voice sounded from the cage next to Callie's. A pretty cream she-cat was standing on her back legs with her front legs against the mesh of her cage. She was examining Callie closely. Callie immediately felt hostile. "Who're you?" she growled quietly from her place on the floor. The she-cat stepped back so that all four of her paws were on the ground again. "M'name's Peggy," she replied brightly. Callie nodded then turned away, dismissing Peggy's presence to look around more closely. She seemed to be in some kind of veterinarian. Callie had heard the terrible stories that cats brought back from the vet. She growled, tail lashing. Have to get out of here...

Ryder Fuck. Ryder had been gnawing on the bars to this cage for the past twenty minutes and he was still stuck behind the iron door. A red lock was on the outside and no matter how many times he clawed on it, it was still locked. He was stuck in here. I was always so careful, this was never supposed to happen. Everyone warned me this happened in the city, and I ignored them. God dammit, I'm a fucking idiot. All because he was trying to save some she-cat who was beaten up for no apparent reason. Maybe the city wasn't a good place for him. He didn't even know where Callie had ended up, but he hoped she was alright. There were cats in cages all around him. They ranged from all ages, from little kittens to elders who just laid around and slept. Most of them were either sleeping, lapping up metal-flavored water, flicking their tails in boredom, or flicking a brightly colored mouse around in their cage. None of them responded to him when he tried to talk to them; they just gave him weird looks as he tried frantically to escape. They were dozens of cages. each containing at least one cat. It seemed like there were more cats in here then there were on the streets!

Calliope
[/color][/i] Callie curled up on the blankets and sighed. Where was Ryder? It really was his fault that she was in this mess, so he'd better help get them out of it. The dusty brown she-cat growled in annoyance, lashing her tail and feeling it thwack against the metal bars of the cage. She hated being so cooped up. She hated the stupid humans for bringing her here. She hated Ryder for getting her tangled up in all this. I hate the world! she thought sulkily, curling up and closing her eyes in a futile attempt to sleep When she woke up, it was to find a human with big, clumsy hands opening her cage and reaching in to grab her. He was wearing thickly padded black gloves, and Callie's teeth were unable to pierce them. Still, she thrashed around, yowling angrily. "RYDER, YOU ASS, I COULD REALLY USE SOME HELP!" she screeched as the person holding her set her down on a shiny metal table and held her there. Another person, a woman with long black hair, came up holding a cylinder with a long metal stick on it. Callie howled and squirmed, but couldn't break free. The woman plunged downward suddenly, sticking the metal part right into Callie's neck. She screamed in pain, twisting so hard that the man lost his grip on her and she fell to the ground. That whole thing about how cats always land on their feet? A lie. Callie landed on her side, then scrambled up and tried to run but the cast on her broken leg dragged her down. She felt gentler hands pick her up and place her back in the cage. The woman looked at her with kind eyes, then pulled something out of a pocket and put it in Callie's cage. She sniffed it gingerly, recognizing the delicious odor of chicken. Suspicious as she was, it really did look appetizing. Callie glanced warily at the woman, then darted forward and snatched up the morsel in her mouth. She gulped it down quickly, not realizing how hungry she was. The woman chuckled and opened the door to slide in a bowl of cheap cat food, but the ordeals of the past few days had taken a toll on Callie and she was too exhausted to eat. Instead, she resumed her position curled up at the back of the cage and began to groom herself. She was tired and a little scared and some of the fight had gone out of her. She was honestly hoping Ryder would come get her out of this place. He was nothing if not very persistent. Wow, that almost sounded like a compliment, Cal. What's gotten into you? she wondered as she smoothed down the fur on her non-broken leg. [/blockquote][/blockquote][/sub][/right]

Ryder Ryder perked his ears, hearing a familiar yowl. He couldn't make out the words, but it was definitely Callie. He had to get them out of here, but there was no way he could undo the lock that was holding him. He was continuing to gnaw on the bars when he spotted several humans walk in. There was one in a green shirt with some kind of logo on it, then a female with two young children following after her. The kids ran from cage to cage, ooing and awing at all the cats. Ryder scoffed and turned his back to them when they came to his cage. Creeeeeaaaaak He spun around and watched the human with the green shirt open a cage. He grabbed a black and white cat from the cage and placed it in the human's arms. He's opening the cages for them! The children pet the cat, but it wasn't too keen on it and struggled. The human put the cat back in the cage and locked it. Now Ryder knew how he was going to get out! He began to rub himself against the bars, purring and crying to look adorable. He made little trilling sounds until he got the attention of one of the children. They went over to his cage and, after a moment's hesitation, the man opened Ryder's cage and pulled him out. Yes! Ryder was placed in the older child's arms, but he didn't stay them for long. He sprang away before the child got a good grip on him, and then he bolted down the hall. There were cages everywhere and for a minute, he thought he was going in circles. But the cats in the cages didn't look familiar. Several other humans in green shirts saw him and started to shout, some tries too even snatch his. But Ryder dodged between their legs until he reached a door. He was panting. Where do I go now? He heard the humans running after him, and figured he was going to be caught. But just then, he heard a beep and a human appeared at the door, opening it. She shouted when Ryder raced through her legs, free once again. He passed several doors until he caught Callie's scent, and he knew he was going the right direction.
