PERSONALITY:
Kestrel is a strange one. To start off, this little boy exhibits tendencies of a kleptomaniac. Though, unlike many kleptos, Kes loves to steal, whether or not the item will be of any use. He'll take a juicy rabbit if it looks nice, even if he's not hungry, and his home in the city is littered with useless trinkets taken from humans and cats alike. A ring here, an old bone there. If something tickles Kes' fancy, even for a moment, he'll do whatever it takes to get it. He's become quite an expert little thief over the ages, though he never works for anyone else. Kestrel takes for Kes and only Kes.
Along with stealing items, he also won't restrain from, in a romantic sense, stealing cats. He's a handsome boy and he knows it, and when he spots a nice big tom, he won't hesitate to go right up and start flirting to try and spend a night with the other. Hell, he'll even flirt if the cat has a mate by his side, she-cat or not. He simply loves the feel of winning a cat over, and it doesn't hurt that the nights spent with these toms are just as nice. Besides, it's nice to feel loved, even if it's not real. Surprisingly, though, Kestrel is very easily attached to another cat, which causes the tom a lot of heartache when his one-night stands simply view him as that. Just a pretty tom to spend the night with. It's like a horrible paradox; an easily attached cat who is heartbroken each time his fling leaves him, but also a cat who won't hesitate to go back out and find someone else to hurt his heart all over again. Kes is quite inexperienced with actual relationships, though, and probably wouldn't know what to do if someone actually did want to spend more than just a night with him.
While Kestrel does seem like some thieving whore at first glance, he really is a sweet boy. He's easily excited by little things, especially gifts, and loves his family more than anything on this earth. Unfortunately, half of his family doesn't exactly appreciate his way of life and don't love him quite so much. Kes doesn't mind, though, no matter how hurtful they can be. He has boundless love for those he cares about. Kes can be a fun guy to hang around if he's not simply trying to get you in bed, and his loyalty is endless. He is a bit on the feminine side, therefore bonding a bit more closely with she-cats. He's the kind of guy who will just sit back and admire nice toms with you. All while trying to steal your lunch, of course. RELATIONSHIPS:

HISTORY:
Kestrel was apart of the second litter born to Tasha and Hawk, who were a loving couple despite their rough start. The pair's relationship started as a one-night stand which resulted in Tasha's first litter of kittens. She cared for Hawk, but the tom bolted as soon as she announced her pregnancy to him. Tasha, hurt by the tom's abandonment and still harboring some love for the other, named her three kittens after birds, like the hawk their father was named for. They lived alone for a while in the city, though luckily for them, Hawk was a gentleman. Despite not wanting the kittens, they were still his, and he wasn't going to leave Tasha to raise them alone in the dangerous city. So he returned, and while everything was awkward for a while, they soon warmed up to each other. They fell in love (real love) while raising Eagle, Sparrow, and Finch, and soon Tasha was pregnant again. This time with kittens that both of the parents wanted.
Near the end of Tasha's pregnancy, though, Hawk was attacked and killed by a stray dog while defending their alleyway. Tasha was heartbroken once again, and when her new litter of four was born, she once again named them after birds in honor of their father. And so Kestrel and his three littermates were added to their already large family. The four little kittens were close with their family, though as they grew and their personalities began to develop, they soon began to divide. Kestrel was already, as his brother Falcon put it, 'too girly', so the young tortoiseshell stuck close to his gentle sister Dove. Falcon was sort of a bully to the pair, and their shy sister Wren would tag along with the more arrogant and confident tom. The four weren't incredibly close to their older siblings, though Kes took a liking to his kind brother Finch.
Soon, the oldest three left, Eagle and Sparrow first before Finch followed not long after, leaving the four alone with their mother. Falcon and Kestrel were often at odds with each other, especially since Kes was developing his thieving tendencies and often took the other kitten's belongings. And when Kes began to flirt with toms, well, that was a no-no to Falcon. The two brothers began to fight, both physically and verbally, before eventually Falcon took Wren and left for the wilderness. Kestrel and Dove were left alone with Tasha, and after a tearful goodbye, they too left home. All seven of the kits do make sure to visit their mother, though, and often will run across each other this way (much to Falcon and Kestrel's irritation).
Kes and Dove lived on their own for a while before splitting up, Dove finding a nice human couple who were willing to take her in while Kestrel preferred the freedom of being a stray. The two still often visit each other, though, and Kes considers Dove to be both his sister and closest friend. Kestrel lived alone for a while, hoarding the items he would snatch from others. Soon, he began to sleep around with random toms, and while Dove frowned on these actions, he didn't heed her advice and continued his actions. It was nice to have attention and be loved by another, even for one night. She didn't understand and still dislikes the way he lives his life, but she doesn't love him any less. She just wishes he wouldn't throw his heart around so freely, though Kes shows no signs of changing the way he lives.
